Neil Christopher Jack Coxon

Born 27th July 1965 at Wynberg Military Hospital
Youngest of four sons
Grew up in Fish Hoek and attended Fish Hoek Primary and High Schools
Matriculated in 1983
Went to Army for 2 years and was mostly based at Youngsfield with the anti aircraft division
After the Army, he went to sea with Unicorn Lines as a Deck Cadet (Navigating Officer)
Attended nautical college at General Botha, Granger Bay but did not complete his studies
Had various casual jobs and started fixing motor cars and garden service equipment
He then started working for Eric Pepper doing contract installation work on the Roberts & Cain Yachts
Then started with Maverick Yachts in February 2010 where he was working until he passed away.
Neil’s passion for the sea and boats started at a young age as his father was a Sea Scout Master and was also involved in the Sea Scout Base at Zandvlei in Lakeside.  Neil became a Cub and later a Sea Scout and spent just about every weekend at Zandvlei on the boats.  He later became a Rover and used to operate the rescue boat at the various regattas and the annual Kontiki raft building competition at the Sea Scout Base.
Neil’s three brothers all went to sea with Unicorn Lines and are still associated with the industry with his eldest brother Brian, still a serving ship’s Master at sea.  His other two brothers, Trevor and Paul are both marine surveyors.
Sadly missed along life's way,
quietly remembered every day...
No longer in our life to share,
but in our hearts, you're always there.
I regarded you as a brother, a closer friend no-one could have.
A man who enjoyed the simple things, but who was prepared to help anyone in need.
Rest in Peace my Friend
Neil you were a true gentleman, help to your fellow boaters was never a problem,
sometimes putting everyone else's needs before your own.
You will be truly missed. Rest in peace buddy.Nick Mitchell
We will miss him dearly as a great competitor, boat builder and all round helpful guy.
Rest in peace Neil,
With sorrow in our hearts,Cobus Hester and Alexia Fourie
always willing, always enthused - what a great guy.
May you rest in piece. Gerald de Jager

Welcome to the home of the Cape Model Boat Club where its All about Family, fun and model boats !

The aim at CMBC is to develop and promote radio control model power boating to a standard where members can be competitive at any race meeting throughout South Africa,or just come along and run a boat for the fun of it. This is accomplished through a friendly and informative atmosphere and an openness towards assisting all members to fully develop their skills.

If your boat is fast we will race you, but if racing is not your scene, we can help you get the most enjoyment from your hobby.
